A Sure Start Maternity Grant is a welfare payment in the United Kingdom. It is a one-off payment of £500 to help with the costs of having a child and it is available to those in receipt of certain benefits. It seems as though the Sure Start Maternity Grant is going to be replaced by the “Best Start Grant” in 2019 (at least in Scotland).
Contacting Sure Start Maternity Grant by Phone
The Sure Start Maternity Grant customer service phone number is 0345 603 6967. Alternatively, call Jobcentre Plus on Freephone 0800 055 6688.
Calling an 0345 number costs exactly the same as calling a friend or neighbour on their home phone. While this means that they aren’t necessarily free to call, there are no premium-rate charges involved and the number receiving the call doesn’t make a profit from any call charges you do pay. Phone tariffs that come with inclusive minutes or ‘free’ calls to landlines include calls to 0345 numbers in exactly the same way as for normal landline numbers starting 01 or 02. If you don’t have any “free minutes” with your landline package, you will typically be charged up to 10p per minute. This can vary significantly depending on the day and the time you are making the call. If you call from a mobile and you don’t have any ‘free minutes’ left, the cost of calling an 0345 number will typically be between 10p and 40p per minute.
0800 numbers are generally completely free to call both from landline phones and from mobiles; they have no service charge or access charge and don’t use up your phone plan’s “free minutes” allowance.
