The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is the statutory organization, responsible for regulating the private-security industry in the UK. The two main duties of the SIA are, to regulate the compulsory licensing of individuals who undertake designated activities within the private-security industry; the other is to manage a voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme, which measures private-security-service suppliers, against independently established assessment criteria.
Contacting SIA by Phone
The Security Industry Authority is very reluctant to reveal their telephone number. Independent sources suggest that the SIA customer service phone number is 0151 243 3701, 0300 123 9298 or 0844 892 1025. The phone number of the SIA head office is 020 7025 4100 or 020 7025 4116. The opening times of the head office are from 9am to 5pm on weekdays.
The prefix 0151 is the code for Liverpool and the surrounding area, while 020 numbers are geographically specific to London. 0151 and 020 numbers are normal landline numbers, charged at standard rates. The cost of calling an 0300 number within the UK is always the same as that of calling a normal home or business landline.
Calls to 0844 numbers are typically charged at higher rates than calls to normal landlines due to the inclusion of a surcharge or ‘service charge’ to pay for the service being provided. Total 0843-number call costs will typically be anywhere from 8p to 62p per minute, plus an additional per-call charge of up to 7p. 0843 calls are not compatible with “free minutes”.
