The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, RSPCA, is a charity promoting animal welfare that operates in Englanf and Wales. Founded in 1824, it is the oldest and largest animal welfare organisation in the world. It is also one of the largest charities in the UK.

The RSPCA says it receives a call for help approximately every 30 seconds. Some situations that may appear distressing are not against the law, and accordingly the charity says its inspectors have to prioritise cases where the law is actually being broken. For the RSPCA 24-hour cruelty line call 0300 1234 999 to report cruelty or an animal in distress. If you wish to report a sick or injured animal please call 0300 1234 999. These calls will cost the same as any call to a UK landline number. You will be asked a variety of questions to ensure that your call is prioritised according to its urgency. Please note, during busier periods your call may be placed in queue. Lines are open 9AM to 5PM Monday to Friday, and an answerphone service is available out of hours. The RSPCA has a dedicated procedure for responding to any complaints about our fundraising. The site contains an online reporting system where you can send a secure message to report an animal in distress, or to report animal cruelty (animal abuse or neglect). The RSPCA wishes to here about any complaints there may be about its fundraising. All complaints (if made in writing) will be acknowledged within five working days, and a more detailed response (if needed) will be made within 20 working days. The charity’s virtual assistant is an automated service, available 24 hours a day, but does not currently offer live chat.
